Adiponectin as a novel predictive biomarker of multiple sclerosis course

چکیده

Abstract Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a serious neurological disease, the actual worldwide prevalence of which estimated to be 2,8 million people (35,9 per 100,000). During course MS, various symptoms and its complications result in raising patient disability, range from skeletal muscles impairment, losses cognitive functions. Achieving control over MS progression appears crucial treatment. This enforces need for recognizing novel predictive factors so as allow prognosis future remissions and/or progressions. Adiponectin, hormone secreted by adipose tissue, currently considered possible candidate such biomarker. The aim this review summarise present knowledge assess clinical usage. According collected data, adiponectin measurements serum cerebrospinal fluid appear provide plausible useful biomarkers predicting MS. Further studies are, however, needed, especially using non-invasive, but promising sources saliva.

Serum and Saliva Myelin Basic Protein as Multiple Sclerosis Biomarker

Objective: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is presented with motor and sensory function loss. It is caused by demyelination and following axonal lesion. As myelin basic protein (MBP) is one of the key elements of the myelin cover, we examined the level of MBP in serum, stimulated, and unstimulated saliva as a suitable biomarker for detecting MS. Methods: A case-control study was performed in 29 health...

Biomarker efficacy in multiple sclerosis diagnosis and treatment

The goal in studies concerning biomarkers in autoimmune diseases is finding a marker which fluctuates in correlation with the disease’s severity and settles within normal borders after effective treatment. This marker would later be used as an efficient tool in diagnosis and analysis of medicine clout. It seems the most cogent biomarkers are those measurable in serum or plasma. MS is a neurolog...

Adiponectin as a Biomarker of Osteoporosis in Postmenopausal Women: Controversies

The literature reports indicating a link between plasma levels of adiponectin and body fat, bone mineral density, sex hormones, and peri- and postmenopausal changes, draw attention to the possible use of adiponectin as an indicator of osteoporotic changes, suggesting that adiponectin may also modulate bone metabolism. In this study, we attempted to analyze the available in vitro and in vivo res...

Adiponectin as a potential biomarker of vascular disease

The increasing prevalence of diabetes and its complications heralds an alarming situation worldwide. Obesity-associated changes in circulating adiponectin concentrations have the capacity to predict insulin sensitivity and are a link between obesity and a number of vascular diseases. One obvious consequence of obesity is a decrease in circulating levels of adiponectin, which are associated with...
